Nassau, located on New Providence, is the capital of the Bahamas and showcases a blend of vibrant Neo-colonial 19th century structures and contemporary hotel resorts. Nassau is positioned at the northern tip of New Providence, overlooking the bay between the main island and Paradise Island. The vast majority of the nation's inhabitants reside in Nassau on New Providence Island and in the Freeport region on Grand Bahama. Nassau boasts a blend of vibrant Neo-colonial 19th century architecture and modern hotel resorts. The colonial charm of Nassau's Historical Town is worth exploring. The pink Parliament Building, adorned with a statue of a seated Queen Victoria at the front, is Nassau's most stunning sight. The Pirate Museum is another major attraction in Nassau. Labadee (French: Labadie) is a port situated on the northern shoreline of Haiti, within the district of Cap-Haïtien in the Nord department. This private resort is leased to Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., exclusively for the passengers of its three cruise lines: Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Azamara Club Cruises, until 2050. Since 1986, Royal Caribbean has been the largest contributor to Haiti's tourist revenue, employing 300 locals, allowing another 200 to sell their goods on the property for a fee, and paying the Haitian government US $12 per tourist. The resort is entirely geared towards tourists and is protected by a private security force. The area is fenced off from the surrounding region, and passengers are not permitted to leave the property. Food for tourists is supplied from the cruise ships. A regulated group of Haitian merchants are granted exclusive rights to sell their goods and set up their businesses in the resort. Despite sometimes being advertised as an island, it is actually a peninsula connected to the island of Hispaniola. The cruise ship docks at the Labadee pier, which can accommodate the Oasis class ships and was completed in late 2009. The nearest commercial airport to Labadee is Cap-Haïtien International Airport. The attractions include a Haitian flea market, beaches, watersports, a water-based playground, an alpine coaster, and the largest zip-line over water.
