Nagoya, Japan’s fourth-largest city, blends modern industry with deep-rooted tradition. By contrast, the Osu district hums with energy: a mix of old temples, vintage shops, arcades, and manga stores that captures the feel of contemporary urban Japan. Food is a major highlight, with Nagoya’s own distinctive “Nagoya-meshi” cuisine. Don’t miss hitsumabushi (grilled eel over rice, eaten in three different ways), miso katsu (pork cutlet topped with a rich red miso sauce), and tebasaki (crispy, seasoned chicken wings). Thanks to its central location and excellent rail connections, Nagoya also makes a convenient base for day trips to places like Inuyama, Gifu, and the Japanese Alps, creating a stay that combines history, culture, and modern comfort.
