Sestriere, Italy

Sestriere Italy

Sestriere is located in the heart of one of the largest ski areas in Europe, known as the Vialattea. It’s also one of the few places where you can ski at night on a floodlit Olympic run. The resort regularly hosts Alpine Ski World Cup events, though its most prestigious moment came when it was chosen to host the men’s Alpine Skiing competitions at the 2006 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Turin, and it was home to one of the three Olympic Villages. The two towers (one red and one white) that dominate the skyline have become a symbol of the town. They were built in 1930 by the founder of FIAT, Giovanni Agnelli, with the aim of providing a holiday destination for workers at the FIAT plant in Turin.
